Location:

Quanah, county seat of Hardeman County is located in the north-central part of the Rolling Plains of Texas. Childress and Cottle Counties border it on the west, Wilbarger County on the east, and Foard County on the south. The Prairie Dog Town Fork of the Red River, between Texas and Oklahoma, forms the northern boundary, and the Pease River and Foard County form the southern boundary. The county slopes gradually from west to east, and drainage is dominantly eastward through Groesbeck Creek and Wanderers Creek. The total land area of the county is 687 square miles. Rolling prairie, sandy loam with mixed soils.
